H&M apologises over image of black child in 'monkey' hoodie

High street retailer H&M has apologised after one of its advertising photographs was labelled as racist.

The fashion chain has removed the picture from its online store after it was met with widespread criticism on social media.

Some called the image shameful and disgusting, according to the Mirror.

The picture shows a young black boy modelling a green hoodie with the slogan Coolest Monkey in the Jungle.

Many people also called for the shop to be boycotted. The hoodie, which is designed for boys aged one to ten years old, is still on sale for £7.99.

However the photo attached has been removed and replaced with a picture is just of the hoodie itself.

A H&M spokesman said : "This image has now been removed from all H&M channels and we apologise to anyone this may have offended."

But many people do not agree, and don't believe the photo is racist.
